Hi again,

Tried the DIRECTION=57.29578*(arctangent(UGRD,VGRD))+180 Could not get it to work.

Entered DIRECTION=57.29578*(ATAN2(UGRD,VGRD))+180

Works OK - where U = 6 and V = 5, result dir= 220 deg

Speed = 8 m/s

Could you check it please.

Thanks for that. However (DIRECTION=57.29578*(arctangent(UGRD,VGRD))+180)

Does this formula work in what ever quadrant?

Or does the +180 change to suit V and U values?

i.e

180 if V>=0
0 if U<0 and V<0>0 and V<0

Wind Direction U and V

Hi Jeff, I am using DEGRIB to convert grib2 files into a XML format, but i need to calulate wind direction and wind speed. I believe this is stored in a grib message as UGRD VGRD both in M/S I used the formla atan2(y,x) Where y is the V and x is U is this correct? and is the output in DEG. I am gett...

Hi Jeff, Thanks for that. I have managed to to do it now. I have made my batch file, and it works well. I now run it in auto using some software i found on the net - system schedular - really good, easy and FREE. On your wish list for wingridds, have you got an XML output planned !! I know it's alot...

Hi Jeff,

I have created my batch file .cmd, but need a little help with the command for auto.

I plan to run on of my .bat files every 30 min, can i do this using the AT command in command prompt?

If so how?

Hi,

Does anybody know of a way i can get DAWS to create a txt or XML output for decoded meta data.

I would like to start archiving data i collect, and would perfer an XML output with could be uploaded to my site.

If not, is there any other programs which can ??

Hi Jeff,

It's ok now, manged to find what i was looking for. on the NECP server

0.5x0.5 deg GFS just for Europe, did dont want ot donwload the whole file just a section which covers europe. also manage to exract just want i nedd, ie, temp, hum etc,,
