The "Weather Symbols" true-type font is in the Fonts list. Changing the Font Mode to NMC/NCEP Raster results in the pressure tendency symbol plotting. Changing it back to TrueType results in no symbol being plotted. Installing 1.40d from scratch on another PC, this time with WinXP Home as ...

Under the Map menu, Generate Map. When that pops up the Map Configuration (Generate Map) window, choose AWIPS under the Color Style drop down. It will generate the black background map. Then anything you plot or analyze on that map will use the AWIPS "style" that you can find under Prefere...

It's not intuitive, and it's probably not working the way it's supposed to, but if you generate your base map using using a certain Color Style, then the plots and analyses are done using the right color scheme.

I think what he was asking about was the s in https:// which makes it a secure connection. Usually one needs to accept certificates or login to such a site.

I just wondered if there was a functionality somewhere within visual fortran that would grab just the contents of the Wingridds window, instead of the window and anything overlaid. But there must not be.

Jeff, It would definitely be a good thing to put in the documentation about capturing anything onscreen at the time. I also wonder if there isn't a specific window capture function in Visual Fortran (or whatever is being used to create the temporary files). For example in basic Windows functionality...
