Beta Bugs Nov 2004

The automatic color increment doesn't seem to work anymore. Before you could enter a field, e.g. bknt 1000 f12 and then add another (bknt 900/) and another (bknt 800/) and each time the color would advance along the palette at the bottom of the map. It only advances from color 1 to color 2 and then ...

It just seems to be a comcast issue. I can get to the site and download every fine from all over ISP locations. From comcast, I have to enter the IP for the home page and copy the shortcut that refers to the download file links and replace "home.comcast.net" with 204.127.198.24 then the download fil...

COMCAST download troubles

If anyone else is having the problem from comcast trying to get to Jeff's home page try the following. Because comcast.net hasn't figured out (at least in south Florida) how to resolve home.comcast.net from a comcast.net account, you must enter the IP for home.comcast.net which from a non-comcast ac...

Fatal PALLETTE.DAT ERROR

Beta release crashes upon loading the GRIB file on the new PALETTE.DAT file. The new version of /USER/PALETTE.DAT, /USER/PCGMODE.DAT, and /DATA/FILTBL.DAT need to be included in the beta release .ZIP file. Until then, you can modify the top line of /USER/PALETTE.DAT to look like it does in the new v...

Ver 1.1 Bugs & issues

Some of the things I've found with 1.1: -NGRD2PCG32 has problems with NOGAPS grib files. For some reason after it builds the grid file and places it in GRIDDATA directory, even if the /NWS directory is empty, it still checks all the fields from the earlier version of the file in the GRIDDATA directo...

Another animation issue

Jeff, One other thing I've found using the anim command is that when a field or time is not found, the command keeps looking with no way to abort the process. For example, if I've got 120 hrs of the GFS at 3 hour intervals and I enter "bknt 100m&anim" instead of "bknt 10m&anim", the program will loo...

Jeff, From what I can tell, the map project stays the same (at least for parts of the forecast cycle) but the plotted grid data moves along within it so I didn't get the "different projection error". I tried what you said and the real trick is to hope NGB2PCG32 decoded the files in order so the outp...

I've got the GFDL now running on PCGRIDDS32 but because the storm relative nested grid moves, NGB2PCG32 generates a seperate file for each navigation (in most cases, every single six hour time step for 126 hours of forecast). This results in a single forecast cycle producing files AUG090.GFD255 to A...

Kevin, The GFDL can be found at ftp://weather.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/ST.opnl/MT.ghm_CY.12/ with the last two digits representing the model run time. It's a few more directories down but easy to get to. The file I was talking about is at ftp://weather.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/ST.opnl/MT.gfs_CY.12/RD.200408...
