I'm running Win XP w/SP2 and the help command works just fine, although I haven't had call for it before.

GEO Quarterly script problem
Dear Fred:
No I do not have issue No. 7, the script that I copied inexpertly was from issue No. 8. I am going to get No.7 as soon as I can, I am now hooked on scripting! Thanks again for the help, I don't know what I would do without people like you and this forum.

GEO Quartely script problem
Dear Fred: Thank you very much! That solved the problem and the map now looks more like the example on GEO Quarterly. The only anomaly that I now have is the unusual title appearing in the lower left of the workchart, "Surface winds 1650-1749" This is an annoyance that I can live with. The...

Geo Quarterly script problem
I copied this script form the Dec. 2005 issue of The GEO Quartely to do a color fill of temperatures, but when I run it, I get a legend that says "Surface winds" with some time numbers, then several solid color screens flash, then a dense network of contours with values in the 5000 range a...

Grib ingest/plot software
Dear Britbob: There is a very useful software program available, and it is free. It is even available through a link here. It is PCGRIDDS 32. You can find it at Jeff Krob's website. Just check in the PCGRIDDS 32 section and the link is there in Jeff's latest posting. You will need to download and in...

The future of PCGRIDDS 32
Dear Jeff: Count me in with those who use and tremendously enjoy PCGRIDDS 32. The program far outruns my knowledge of meteorology, but that is it's true value. It will have the ability to become even more valuable as my knowledge grows. I am, unfortunately, self educated in meteorology and PCGRIDDS ...

Model data
Dear Mike:
I have had good luck with the Nomad 5 data site: http://nomad5.ncep.noaa.gov/ncep_data/. I use it for data to run PCGRIDDS 32, and then use them for DAWS. Hope this helps.
Cordially,

ftp download problems
Kevin: Thanks for the NOMADS 5 tip, that seems to have fixed my problems. PCGRIDDS32 is up and running with new data, I'm happy to report. Thanks, too, Jeff. The WAFS link came back as "could not find server', so I intend to follow up on it, as my curiosity has now been seriously piqued. I knew...

ftp with NOMADS site
Andy; Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try the Filezilla program. I did a search and found their site, but the 17MB download will take more time than I can give it until the weekend. Is the WAFS data available anywhere else? I have never tried to use it, so I'm totally unaware of where to get it, ho...

FTP download problems
I have been having a problem with ftp'ing data from the NOMADS site for some time now. I stopped using my copy of PCGRIDDS 32 since the only data that I could get was http, but the file sizes were too huge. A 105MB file would take so long for me to download with a 26kbps dial up that the predicted w...
