Re: Analysis preferencs help

You can go into the Registry (use Regedit) and change the setting for the upper radius and see if that helps
Yeah, I tried that, but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. So either there's more to AS than meets the eye, or perhaps there's a bug somewhere.

Re: Analysis preferencs help

Greg, I use the following for surface data and get very good results. Barnes method: Checked Domain Size: 100X100 Automatic Smoothing: Unchecked Smoothing Coefficient: .6 Smoothing Passes: 1 Surface Radius: 100 nm Gamma: .3 However, there is a problem when trying to use this grouping for upper air i...

While that is an odd email, I have to agree with the sentiment regarding the purple color. Something a little more neutral would be more appropriate I think. This forum's color scheme is a good one...ie the blueish grays.

Beau,

For the dewpoint script above, (CINT=5 COLOR=0:90:0 DASH) draws the isodrosotherms. The HILO command plots the individual values. HILO and CINT can be used for any script, not just dewpoints.

Beau, Just by themselves, negative numbers cannot be scripted(the colorfills, that is)...it's a programming limitation in DAWS. However, there is a workaround for this as demonstrated by the following. This temperature script(F°) goes from about -50 to +125 in 5° increments. It doesn't mark the isot...

Bob,

I believe 4X/day is correct -- at the normal synoptic hours, but I'm not absolutely certain.

Bob,

I typically wait for about an hour or even a little bit longer to get better coverage. However, I haven't run a time-check on the data in a while so perhaps they're getting the data in faster now than what they used to.

Bob,

I don't think there's a way around this at the present time. Label crowding is something Tim needs to address when he gets around to programming again.

Marcel,

Yes, unfortunately the isopleth labels also change when making HILO font adjustments because the two are connected as far as DAWS is concerned. This is something that Tim should separate in future versions.

Marcel, Go to Preferences->Styles and look for three entries named "General Isopleth/Labels" and "Low Pressure Areas" & "High Pressure Areas". Off to the right there are values that you can change for both the font size and font type. After you've made your changes,...
