Dear Shanny, Ben:

Thank you for the help. Iwas afraid that there would be no cheaper source, Meteorology being a very narrow interest group, so these tips are worth checking out. I'll let you know if I am successful.

Dear Tim: This is a problem that I encountered before the e patch, and after installation, I am running Workstation v1.0e. Starting from the base map I hit generate map>united states. The USA appeared as requested. I clicked on save basemap and titled it usamap. then I hit generate map>Michigan, and...

Bufkit help

Dear Ben: Thank you for responding so quickly. I have Bufkit installed, but the Bufget4 part doesn't seem to want to appear. The link shows up on my all programs list(windows XP), but when I click on it I get a dialog box stating that windows doesn't know how to open the program. I was able to open ...

Bufkit Help

Greetings: I just downloaded Bufkit after hearing about it online. The download and install are done sucessfully, but now I need a helpful mentor to get it tailored to my location. I have version 4.4, build 48, and the documentation that was on the NOAA website was for 3.5, so I am somewhat disconce...

white square ooo map erase

Dear Tim; I have encountered this problem only after installing patch "d". The map loads as usual, and the data(isotherms, etc) plot just fine. However when I hit the erase button, a white square appears in the upper left corner of the workchart. The rest of the map does not erase. Hitting...

Geographical overlays

Dear Tim:

My vote is for temporary. I like the ability to make any map I desire on the fly, and being able to make them permanent by copying markings to basemap is sufficient in my opinion. After all, versatility is the hallmark of DAWS is it not?

DAWS kudos

Tim, Just a quick note to say how pleased I am with DAWS. I downloaded it just fine to CDburning file, so that I would have a disk backup. The install went fine, and it was ready to go to work. Radar mode is fantastic, it has similar features to what our local TV station is touting for it's fancied-...

I agreee, the tease looks very impressive. I am counting the days until release. However, you could be guilty of damaging the cozy relationship I am building with my local FO.

Does anyone have an idea where I can find an inexpensive copy of Synaptic-Dynamic Meteorology in Midlatitudes Volume 1, by Howard W. Bluestein? I have obtained a copy of volume 2, but all the sources I have checked so far (2) have quoted prices of $90.00 and above. I don't mind paying a higher price...

-10C isotherm reply

Dear miseryhawk;

Excellent link! It was quite helpful, though the graphics do leave something to be desired. Thank you very much for the reply. Weather people are some of the most helpful people I have ever met. :D
