Model Map Site
For those who are are not aware of it, there is an excellent site for model output maps at http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/ewall.html They call it the "Electronic map wall' or E-wall. Just about any model you could ask for is there, for just about any initialization time or number of hours o...

-10 C isotherm
Dear Marc, Thank you for your reply. I think you may be correct in your interpretation. I was looking at a sounding for KGRB in my RAOB program and paid close attention to the data display as I moved the cursor up. Sure enough, the -10C level showed a RH of 78%. At -12C, the RH had dropped. This, I ...

-10 C isotherm in AFD
I was recently checking out the AFD, and came across a phrase that left me wondering as to it's exact meaning. isentropic analysis
I am encountering a diffficulty with getting mixing ratios to plot in isentropic analysis mode. DA seems to be working on the request, and then states it is READY, but no lines are plotted. On one 285K surface, the 1 g/kg line plotted down near Florida, but no others showed. On any other chart,(290,...

DA Radar display
Dear maxinimnn: I've had a similar problem with DA. The only way that I have found around this difficulty is to download radar data separately. If I try to download with other data, i.e. METAR surface data, I get (unknown size) of 686K.. When I download it by itself I get a message that states how m...

Surface temperature Prediction...
Dear Mike:
Thank you very much. That explanation I could understand easily! Why can't textbook editors be as clear and to the point?

Surface high temperature forecast from 850mb chart
Can anyone help me understand how a surface high temperature prediction is made from the 850mb chart temperatures? I have consulted several texts on the subject, but either they are unclear, or I am unable to grasp their explanations. Thanks.
