Indian Ocean

Mercator
Lat = -15.00
Long = 75.30
Scale = 6925
Width = 900
Height = 700
X offset = 2
X Aspect = 1.108
Y offset = -8
Y aspect = .934

You'll probably get a range check error after generation, if it shows up click ok, do a data plot, then window remove last product. Save the basemap.

To simplify the process I've gone and put ALL my working and tested
basemaps AND my scripts, batch files and any add on software I use
(only one program - wget) into a directory on the server here:

To see what images I'm making hourly go to:

http://saturn.netwrx1.com/DAWS/

To see the scripts and such that do this go to:

http://saturn.netwrx1.com/DAWS/Basemaps-and-Scripts/

Have fun, enjoy and PLEASE if something seems broken let me know or if
you have something to share or add send it along and I'll be happy to
toss it in if I look at it and start to run it here.

I'd like to extend a HUGE thanks to everyone out there, Pat, Wally, and all that have allowed me to get this working finally and as well asi t is. Without their asistance it would certainly NOT be functional.

I"m sorry, I had to remove the US map files, as they were not right. And, it appears to have some projection mapping problem when compared to the Navy site. Will work on it more.

George,

Not a problem, I was glad to help. I would like to thank you as well for figuring out how to deal with those hideous links using wget:) I didn't know how to get a direct link to the images!

Thanks again, George!

Wally,

There may also be a problem with the North Atlantic basemap not being the same (projection mercator vs orthographic & dimension 1000X1000 vs 1200X900) as the NW Atlantic map on the NexSat site.

Not being a pain, you probably just did this basemap using a different satellite image.

Thanks for the east US overview BTW!

Thank you very much :).

Actually doing it by automated script and batch file here the whole process from start of getting data at 00 minutes top of the hour to last map takes about 15 minutes here looking at the windows scheduler log. The analysis functions on DAWS are pretty quick. One thing I HAVE noticed (Tim if you're reading this) is that you don't want to loop DAWS through the preocessing too much or it seems to have some serious memory issues and hang. I've broken the process up into chunks and call each type of map as its own script from a master DOS Batch file one after the other. Its also easier and faster to turn one or more on or off if there are issues with it by just commenting out one line rather than messing with alot of code.

City Zoom Satellite Images

Post by weatherguy08 »

After playing with DAWS for some time, I was able to create a map with the New Orleans, Louisiana Satellite Zoom from NRL:

Latitude: 29.953
Longitude: -90.250
Scale: 134
Width x Height: 800 x 800
Projection: Orthographic
Image Path: http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/focus_public ... ge.HDF.jpg

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Latitude: 30.533
Longitude: -91.200
Scale: 134
Width x Height: 800 x 800
Projection: Orthographic
Image Path: http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/focus_public ... ge.HDF.jpg

These maps may be slighly off but they seem to work good enough. :D

SE US Coast (Region/Sector, East, SE Coast)

Orthographic
Lat: 30.45
Long: -79.2
Scale: 525
900X1200
X Offset: -20
X Aspect: .944
Y Offset: 6
Y Aspect: .939

This will work OK with both Geo-Color and True Color on the left, as well as most of the MODIS images under Vis, IR and WV.
