Hi Tim,

Here are some of the bugs I'm running into in version 1.0d:

RADAR BUGS:

I tried to get the severe weather probability radar product for a number of local radar sites, and here's an excerpt from the status bar while DAWS was executing this:

» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.47swp/SI.kbbx/ ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.47swp/SI.kbhx/sn.0105 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.47swp/SI.kdax/sn.0145 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.47swp/SI.krgx/sn.0037 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.47swp/SI.kmax/sn.0091 ...
» Transfer done

On the first "Searching directory for latest file," DAWS came up with a window saying: Internet error 404 [server does not have the requested file at this time] Not Found. The directory searching continued after I clicked "Ok," though, and after "Transfer done" appeared in the status window, an error came up reading: Digital Atmosphere encountered an error: Read beyond end of file. There is almost an identical sequence of events when I try to access the 32 nm Spectrum Width products and the 124 nm Spectrum Width products, although in this case, DAWS acts like it is plotting the data after the transfer is done. When it is "done" plotting the data, it comes up with the same "Read beyond end of file" error.

When I try to access 1.5 deg. reflectivity data, the status window displays the following:

» Retrieving http://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/radar/BBX/BBX.BREF2 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/radar/BHX/BHX.BREF2 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/radar/DAX/DAX.BREF2 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/radar/RGX/RGX.BREF2 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/radar/MAX/MAX.BREF2 ...
» Transfer done

After which DAWS comes up with a message stating: Error in inflate. Some radar data does actually get plotted on the map after this, but not much reflectivity is displayed. This may be simply because there isn't much storm activity around this area right now. This same scenario is repeated when I try to get 3.4 deg. reflectivity, though this time most of the reflectivity was shown around the RGX station. Again, not sure if this is right or not.

Continuing on with radar bugs, I tried to access composite reflectivity for all the sites I selected (BBX, DAX, MAX, RGX, BHX), and the status window showed that DAWS was "Searching directory for latest file." After it searched the directory for all the sites mentioned above, it appeared to be downloading data, but when the transfer was done, a window popped up saying it was plotting the data, and DAWS completely froze up.

In trying to access extended composite reflectivity, the status window showed:

» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p38cr/SI.kbbx/sn.0145 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p38cr/SI.kbhx/sn.0143 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p38cr/SI.kdax/sn.0153 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p38cr/SI.krgx/sn.0055 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p38cr/SI.kmax/sn.0139 ...
» Transfer done

After which a window came up telling me that DAWS was "plotting data," though no progress was shown. After this, I got an error message stating, "Digital Atmosphere encountered an error: Read beyond end of file"

When accessing extended .5 deg reflectivity, 2.4 deg. velocity, 3.4 deg. velocity, Short 32 nm velocity, Tornado Vortex Signature, Mesocyclone, Storm Tracking Information, and Clutter filter control, something similar to the following appears in the status window:

» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Searching directory for latest file...
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p20-r/SI.kbbx/sn.0016 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p20-r/SI.kbhx/sn.0207 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p20-r/SI.kdax/sn.0002 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p20-r/SI.krgx/sn.0163 ...
» Transfer done
» Retrieving http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/SL.us008001/DF.of/DC.radar/DS.p20-r/SI.kmax/sn.0247 ...
» Transfer done

No 404 errors are reported during this sequence, although the search for the latest file takes a significant amount of time sometimes. After the end of the transfer, DAWS acts like it's plotting data, and then comes up with the familiar "read beyond end of file" error.

Finally I come to the Hail Index. When I tried to access this product, DAWS loaded the data and plotted it (even though there wasn't any :) ), but when the color key appeared on the side, each color was labeled with a "0."

All radar products that I haven't mentioned appear to work fine.

FRONT BUG:

I downloaded front bulletins from NCEP, and when I went to the fronts tab and clicked "View fronts," the fronts appeared along with an error message reading, "Digital Atmosphere encountered an error: Range check error."

DOWNLOAD PROBLEM:

The website that DAWS tries to load SATOB winds from (ftp://orbit2a.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/g9hivis/VV0111012300) does not respond. NOAA has changed the site where they display SATOB wind graphics, so they may have changed this page as well.

Well, I hope that helps.

Regards,
Marc
