DA offers a lot of sources for downloading data - Albany, FSU, Tech, etc. etc. but my question to users is, which of the various sites that are available have you found to have the most accurate and/or complete and/or up to date METAR, SYNOP, radiosonde, buoy, etc. data? I generally use Albany myself. How many different data sets do users generally download at one time?
Thanks in advance,
JLL

For full world synoptic, I don't know, but for my US/western hemisphere plots, I use this at the beginning...
download,://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/codsu ... fronts.dat
download,://weather.cod.edu/digatmos/sao/@Y@M@D@H.sao,c:\digatm\data\surface.dat
;download,://www.atmos.albany.edu/weather/data1/surf ... rface2.dat
download,://www.met.fsu.edu/rawdata/syn/20@Y@M@D/20 ... rface2.dat
PUT http in front of the colons ":" the links don't show up right on this board with http in there
I use one of two choices for buoys, depending on if albany is "working" or not (it usually is)
Generally these are dependable and complete, at least by 15-20 after the hour, some even earlier.
