Support for additional Level III products?

Post by Baroclinicity »

I would like to know if support is planned for some of the other Level III data that is available online. These are the products I was wondering about:

2gsm General Status of the Radar Message (text message)
48vwp VAD Wind Profile
*65lrm Low Level Composite Reflectivity Maximum
*66lrm Mid Level Composite Reflectivity Maximum
90lrm High Level Composite Reflectivity Maximum
74crm Nexrad Radar Coded Message
81dpr Hourly Digital Precipitation Array
82spd Supplemental Precipitation Data

*Importable from data archives.

Some of them, perhaps. RCM is somewhat redundant and the time is better spent on other parts of Digital Atmosphere. But VAD/VWP is definitely a high priority.

Actually, Tim, the RCM does contain useful information. IIRC, on your website, you've been distributing the DOS program GDRCM. That program will not only generate a display of reflectivity (very clunky by modern standards) but it also creates an VWP plot and will generate a hodograph display and compute storm relative helicity for several layers. If GDRCM is in the public domain, I wonder if it would be possible to build it into DAWS ??? VWP plots are nice but a hodograph and SR helicity would be a real tool.
