Not as wet tonight, but here's another national radar mosaic. Changed radar colors which work better when plots go on top.

what did you dod to get that? what settings did you use? style? map? I like it and want to get similar results?

I use the classic color scheme map style, and then configure it
to white land area, one pixel width for state lines, two pixels for
coastlines and international boundaries, rivers, lakes etc.,
color for boundaries as seen.
I use 1280 x 1024 map sizes.
I modified the digatmos.nex file used for NEXRAD radar colors to lighten them up. You can get my version here:

Choose "custom" set in the FILES/PREFERENCES/ General tab
Of course, I manually choose only radar sites with echoes.

This is the format I use when I occasionally am testing DAWS with my hourly surface maps at my site at http://www.weatherroanoke.com/surface.html
(mainly with the floater and mid-Atlantic)

I'm sort of looking for an automated process for finding sites that only have echos or are not in clear weather mode. I've done a little research and i've read that these files are encoded with zlib compression but I've not gotten that to work decompressing these files yet. Perhaps Tim can clue us in. With that working, I could then grep for some text in the file or some known value and then import only those that match the criteria I'm looking for.

Ok, here is one for this morning. I lightened up all 0db and -db in B mode to match the background. I also matched the +db colors in B mode to match the same db colors used in A mode. At least that is what all I think I accomplished, someone else will have to let me know if I'm right or not.

I also think it's now much easier to look at. :)

This mosaic contains all US continental nexrad sites. (I didn't pick and choose). I've sort of automated all of this other than what I can't and that at this point is merely creating the mosaic. I have a Linux box create 7 import files; 6 of which contain US continenatal nexrad data. I just import the 6 files and the mosaic creates itself. Each file contains data for an area of US. This is so If I just want the north central region (where I live) I just import that file.
