Board update
Effective April 12, 2021, we had to delete about 8000 frivolous spammer accounts going back over a year. There was no way for us to locate all legitimate user applications, so some may have been deleted. If you are an actual user who created an account since March 2020 but did not get approved, please register again. You can also contact us via the Contact link on the main Weather Graphics webpage to get assistance. When you contact us, it is essential you provide brief but detailed info on your meteorological background or inform us of any previous order you've made, this way we can tell you are a legit user, otherwise we will assume it is a spammer trying to bypass the application checks. Da 3.30 Fleetcode fronts not working

Post by woolfg »

Hi Tim

I have updated to 3.30 and have found that the fleetcode frontal info is not plotting - you just get a black line

It worked OK in 3.20

Im using https://ftp.hb-yacht.ch/ASXX21.@D0600

Regards

The IAC/FLEET capabilities were extensively fixed in the newest version V3.32, which is now posted in the Downloads section on the main page. I can't assure that fronts will always plot in the correct direction due to how the WMO code was constructed, but you now have the option to fall back on non-barb fronts.

Tim

DA5 2021 V3.32 - “Fleetcode Update”
Released 2021-04-19

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: Barb/pip fronts have been restored based on testing.

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: User is now provided the choice of either barb/pip or non-barb/pip in the Data > Fleetcode menu option. The latter should be selected if the fronts are believed to not be pointing the right direction. The WMO code format does not explicitly provide for frontal direction, so this uses the left/right hand rules (relative to the line) that ASXX21 EGRR seems to be following.

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: Problems with spurious and broken fronts and isopleths have been resolved. It occurred when nonstandard line spacings existed in the source Fleetcode bulletin, causing the cleaned-up bulletin to get rebuilt incorrectly. The ingest now ignores null lines.

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: Non-barbed stationary front type used in IAC/FLEET plots changed to a more frequent spacing so as to reduce visual confusion with cold and warm fronts.

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: Troughs and waves in IAC/FLEET now use a more fine-grained dash line so as to stand out from isobars.

* IAC/FLEET PLOTTING: Isobar labels have been shifted upward 7 pixels so as to not be obscured by the line.

Tim has now fixed the front plotting problem as at 3.32. At the moment, you can control the thickness and colour of the plots by going to 'Style' and editing the 'Boundaries' items.
I think Tim may be changing the method of editing the way the Fleetcode access at some point in the future, but sufficient to say, the F/C plots beautifully, especially when plotted without barbs or bumps at the present. :D
Thanks Tim, nice job as ever!
