Precipitation analysis

Post by Tickford »

Hi Tim,

Was just wondering if you have plans on incorporating Precipitation and Pressure Tendency analysis options in future patches for DA like the older versions had ?

Thanks

Precipitation has just been added (see V1.0i). Will be working on tendency (most likely this will enabled by comparing to the last surface field that was imported, similar to the old Weathergraphix).

Thanks Tim. I'll download it later.

One other question for you.......Do you think it would be possible at some stage to incorporate radars from other countries in DA (say for example, Australia  ) or is that not really a simple task ?

Appreciate the work you put into this mate

Plotting precipitation

Post by PhilLayton »

Hi Tim,

Just had a go this morning with v0.i and noticed that DAWS is plotting for 69982 i.e a large trace, 8.0mm on the plots.
i.e.
03482 15962 /3006 10080 20074 30060 40087 52003 69982 90550 333
20054 3/003 8//99 555 7/070=

is showing 8.0mm instead of 0.8mm

I'd be happy to incorporate radar from other countries, but I have not yet found any sources that freely distribute the raw data. If such a source is found (along with documentation) please notify me about it.

And for any countries that haven't done this -- your country's government weather agency can get free Professional Digital Atmosphere copies for interoffice use if they begin sharing their real-time radar data (in binary non-image format) publically. They should contact me directly for details.

I'll fix the precip issue.
