Tried to import Grib-data again . Either the files I'm getting are totally wrong ( although it says on the site these are global AVN-gribfiles ) or DA is having trouble importing such large files .
Names of the files are :
gblav.t12z.sf96
and
( I think this one is meant for use with a specialized program, DA gives a range check error here and freezes )
gblav.t12z.pgrbf96
size of these is
28,5 Mb
and 25,3 MB respectively
site where I'm getting the data is :
http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/
DAWS starts to import the first file ( gblav.t12z.sf96 ) but simply freezes whilst doing so . Only escape is ctrl-alt-del and "end process
"
I know these are gribfiles because it says so on the site . Do I need to rename them or something else ? Or are these completely the wrong files ??
Still not able to import big grib-files

Hi Rik,
try http://gribs.ocens.net/EastAtlantic.wind.grb.bz2 download the file, unzip it and import it by V0.41 alpha.
Take a map of europe and the color scheme "AWIPS (dark map)".
It works.
More files are here http://www.globalmarinenet.net/grib.htm , scrolling down.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
yes I already knew these particular files do work . Also the ETA- model gribfiles seem to be working as well on the noaa - server .
http://gribs.ocens.net/EastAtlantic.wind.grb.bz2
http://www.globalmarinenet.net/grib.htm
also only offer wind-data , whereas the noaa-server files seems to be offering the full deal : reason why I wanted to use these files .
Has anyone else found a way to import these large ( because they are global ) AVN-gribfiles ? Or is there any other server where they can be obtained ?
Strangely enough DAWS doesn't have any problems with the ETA-data from the same server .
