The reds are elevations at or below sea level. The bright yellows are at five feet or slightly above. Not much to hinder a hurricane that is for sure.

Although I'm sure the area will be rebuilt....just so it can be rebuilt again in another 4 or 5 decades.

The above map is only an approximation and likely isn't 100% accurate regarding heights, but it is more than accurate enough to get an idea.
