Hello,
I am not familiar with your receiver but I would advise the following: Join GEO for info http://www.geo-web.org on all aspects of wx satellite reception.
The antenna should be preferably be circular polarised and that means a cross dipole or better still a QFH. There are may designs and construction details available on the Internet and from GEO.
An antenna preamp may not be necessary, it's dependant upon your location.
FYI: refer to my article GEO No.8 Evaluation of location.
My location is in the valley floor yet reception of wx satellites has proven to be easy.
Membership of GEO will gve you access to articles by Fred for example of using DAWS and overlaying satellite images etc.
