Has anyone had any luck with WRF NMM grib2 files? I ftp'd some from (tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/ST.opnl/MT.hires_MR.nmm_CY.12
/RD.20071012/PT.grid_DF.gr2_AR.east05) and ran NGP2PCG.exe which crashed almost immediately. These are very large files and I wonder if NGP2PCG is choking on it.

Craig,

Come on now...more info. What version of NGRB2PCG32 are you running? Where is a cut-and-paste of where it fails?

comuuuuuunicate ;-) (there may be some GRIB2 unpacking issues)

thanks,
Jeff

BTW - NGRB2PCG32 for WINGRIDDS works fine ...

I know, I know, that was lazy huh? I thought I could get away with it by getting you to run NGRB2PCG32 on a file from that site and creating the same problem. Okay, I'll work for it!

First, I am running the WINGRIDDS version of NGRB2PCG32 but having the resultant GRIB files go to the PCGRIDDS32 GRIDDATA directory. Sorry, I'm old school and like the command line interface and look of PCGRIDDS32. Here is the .OUT file output before the program crashes.

Craig,

ALRIGHT!!! *that's* what were talking about!! ;-) I evidently downloaded some different data & got a LTLN grid & not a NLCC grid (??) So, I'll try it again this afternoon.

This line here:

> --- ADDING GRID-> 7 DMAP0000 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 682
> A,NX,NY= -10.13147 884 614
> GRN,GRX,RANGE= -128.8062 119.4946 1.394948

is the problem...not supposed to be like that (all those '-1' are supposed to be the date-time-group of that GRIB message).

Thanks again,
Jeff.

Craig,

The problems in processing the GRIB2 data have been found. The fix(s) will be in the next release of both the WAFS & Regular GRIB utilities for both PCGRIDDS32 & WINGRIDDS.

Thanks,
Jeff
