I downloaded the most recent WINGRIDDS. Is it possible to convert files of this type so they are viewable in WINGRIDDS? Do I need to place a copy of the file in each relevant Octant folder?
I'm trying to view archived model data for a research project.
Thanks for your help.
Board update
Effective April 12, 2021, we had to delete about 8000 frivolous spammer accounts going back over a year. There was no way for us to locate all legitimate user applications, so some may have been deleted. If you are an actual user who created an account since March 2020 but did not get approved, please register again. You can also contact us via the Contact link on the main Weather Graphics webpage to get assistance. When you contact us, it is essential you provide brief but detailed info on your meteorological background or inform us of any previous order you've made, this way we can tell you are a legit user, otherwise we will assume it is a spammer trying to bypass the application checks. Thanks. -Tim

Converting .grb2 files?
Hello...SkiOrDie,
I take it you have not read the Users Guide. Yes, WINGRIDDS will process GRIB2 data. Where the GRID data is placed depends on what GRIB data you want to look at. WAFS GRIB data will need to go into it's proper Octant folder and non-WAFS GRIB data goes into the NWS folder. Use the appropriate GRIB ingestor to convert the data to WINGRIDDS format.
These processes area spelled out in the WINGRIDDS Users Guide.
Good luck!

Hello...SkiOrDie,
Sorry for being away for so long. I checked out your error.txt & the GRIB file you tried to process is *not* GRIB2 format...but that is OK. WINGRIDDS can process GRIB1 files as well. However, as you saw, the ingest program, NGRB2PCG32, is crashing on the data file you are trying to process. I do not recognize it as a NAM-type GRIB file from any NWS-oriented server - where did you get this GRIB file from? I need to download it to get it to work.
