Hi wxforecaster,

You don't say what is 'wrong' with your script. It appears to work correctly.

If you are disappointed at the reduced range of colours in the exported map, this is because you save it as GIF - which is a 256 color mode and which cannot accommodate all the subtle changes of hue in the script.

Try saving as jpeg for the full color range.

The Script Works great.. But the Output isnt not working. The colors should be with the Map. All you see is Colors.. you dont see the State and county lines which come with the map. It looks like the Color fill transparentcy is 0%. If it was about 50% then you would see the Map under the color fill.

I hope i explained that correctly. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Can't explain that.

My map appears OK.

Is it worth re-installing DAWS to check the problem out?

You could try regenerating the basemap at the end of the script, although that shouldn't be necessary.

Have you tried with a white map? The gray should only change the way the overfills look, so at a minimum the state outline should still show since they look to be a pure black....weird.

You may also want to do the station plots after the color fills.

Did you run any scripts before running that colourfill one?

I don`t bother running colourfill scripts, because for some reason DAWS can be hit and miss about clearing basemaps. Sometimes they clear, sometimes it overlays on top of the previous job etc etc.

Thank for all the replies here! I havent reinstalled DAWS yet but i just might have to. (Les' sugestion)

I run scripts every hour and i think it would be a nice touch to add some color fill maps. (to answer Brits' answer)

I loaded the basemap at the end of the script but it just plots the basemap over the Filled contors so it just ends up as a blank base map. (Pat's answer)

I am lost for words here. I have no idea what the problem is here. I am wondering if there is a command in the Program files of DAWS that i might be able to edit to make the Over fills 50% transparent rather then 0%??? Does anyone know about that one?

Thanks for Everyones help and Quick respones! We have eachother which is great!

Jon

Ok i think i found what this program is doing and i think it is a BUG (which might not ever get fixed).

First off.. It works find for surface plots. it loads the correct map and everything!

But when the Overfill command comes into play.. it uses the default map (which on my program is blank or in other words the Default workchart) and uses that and not the map that is called up. This is very strange!

So i think that might be the problem. Anyone know how to get around this problem?

I hope i explained that correctly.

Just to give everyone a update.. I tried to make a new map in the new program and the OVERFILL problem is still there. No fix yet :(

Hey Jon:

I just copied your script above, and made a few cosmetic changes to reflect our region up here, then ran it. It produced this image for me:

I just can't understand why it won't work for you!
