Vista directories for scripts, data

Ok ... another user pulling his hair out over VISTA:

Unlike XP, Vista has put much of it's operational files in a folder in a folder called Application Data in a User folder.

Does one have to enter the entire insanely long directory name to use that directory, or does Vista alias over from some main directory file folder?

Porting over from an XP machine seems to be pretty complicated thanks to Vista.

My suspicion is that you are stuck with the incredibly long directory path names.

I've been running DA Equinox 1.40d under Vista with no problems, however, exporting data and charts directly into C:\Program Files\DigAtmEquinox\ ... etc. Under program properties (compatibility tab) I checked the box that says "Run as Administrator." I've also turned off the UAC (User Account Control). Both of which seem easier than insanely long directory path names. Yet another windows annoyance.
