I am looking for anyone who has scripts for any of these or other severe weather parameters, they care to share. I need these for my web site.

Thanks,

Randy,

The ability to manipulate upper-air data via scripts is somewhat limited. Hopefully, Tim will expand this area in the future. For now, the following scripts are the only ones I'm aware of.

K Index

Code: Select all

HILO CONT COLOR=0:130:0 GRTN=18 DASH CINT=4 SSUM=1:4 STOR=1 SDIF=2:3 STOR=2 TEMP H850 STOR=3 TEMP H500 STOR=4 SDIF=5:6 STOR=5 DWPT H850 STOR=6 SDIF=7:8 STOR=7 TEMP H700 STOR=8 DWPT H700
KO Index

Code: Select all

HILO CONT COLOR=200:0:0 LSTN=2 DASH CINT=2 SDIF=1:4 STOR=1 SDVC=2:2 STOR=2 SSUM=3:5 STOR=3 THTE H500 STOR=5 THTE H700 STOR=4 SDVC=6:2 STOR=6 SSUM=7:8 STOR=7 THTE H850 STOR=8 THTE H000
Vertical Totals

Code: Select all

HILO CONT DASH COLOR=0:130:0 GRTN=25 CINT=2 SDIF=1:2 STOR=1 TEMP H850 STOR=2 TEMP H500
Cross Totals

Code: Select all

HILO CONT DASH COLOR=0:130:0 GRTN=17 CINT=2 SDIF=1:2 STOR=1 DWPT H850 STOR=2 TEMP H500
Total Totals

Code: Select all

HILO CONT DASH COLOR=200:0:0 GRTN=55 CONT COLOR=250:100:0 GRTN=50 CONT DASH COLOR=0:120:0 GRTN=43 CINT=2 SSUM=1:4 STOR=1 SDIF=2:6 STOR=2 TEMP H850 STOR=4 SDIF=5:6 STOR=5 DWPT H850 STOR=6 TEMP H500

Well my goodness Bob!

Where have you been lately, as I have not heard anything from you. Thanks for the scripts, and hope everything with you is well.

Bob:

Are you sure these work? I've tried the scripts, and all but the vertical
totals, cross totals, and koindex gave me results.

Randy,

They should work but I'll double-check them later. Are you sure your radiosonde data is okay?

Hi Bob:

Yes, the upper air data seems fine, I mean I have had no problems using it thus far.... But I don't know!

Randy,

If the data's okay, you may want to double-check the scripts to make sure they're written correctly. If that checks out, the only other thing I could suggest is for you to send a copy of your digatmos.mnu file to wxguy@yahoo.com and I could add them for you myself.

Bob:

I could check the scripts to see if they are written out right, but I don't know what to look for :) How would you put those scripts into my menu file anyway? I'll send you the file shortly, so watch for it.

Hi Bob

For us "Scripting Challanged" are you saying to put the above scripts into the digiatmos.mnu folder? I do not know what I am doing but love to play with this stuff.

Thanks

Jon,

Basically, yes. All you need to do is open up the digatmos.mnu file using your favorite text editor(ie..Word, Wordpad, Notepad, etc..) and insert a section called Stability Indices and under that section you would then enter the scripts listed above. The main issue here is to make sure that you follow the formatting conventions as shown the digatmos.mnu file. For instance, the word "Stability Indices" would appear by itself starting in column 1. You then add a new line and space over to column 2 and enter "K Index"...without the quotes. You then space over to the vertical bar section, insert a new bar, and then enter the script. Then repeat the process for the KO, CT, VT and TT scripts.

If you're still a little confused after reading this, you can send your digatmos.mnu file to wxguy@yahoo.com and I'll fix it up for you. You could then look at it to see how to implement future changes. However, if you do these modifications for yourself, make sure you close DAWS first, then make the changes -- save the results, and re-open DAWS for the changes to take effect.

hth,
Bob
