Here are a few Winter scripts: For those of us tired of rain, and the soon to arrive Atlantic storms of August/September we always seem to get in the Mid Atl states. Have not checked them for accuracy as the north pole is enjoying the Summer and Rawinsonde data for the south pole is a little on the sparse side.
Edited: forgot to include the "over" for over fill in first 2 scripts. #700 to 850 thck APPROXIMATION OF RAIN/SNOW LINES blue=snow, red=anything is possible, green=rain

This script is on the board, thanks to Peter for providing:

These are EXPERIMENTAL. The Garcia Method of snow forecasting uses ave mixr * 2 to calculate Max snow depth for a forecast area. The first script uses
ave. mixr from 500mb to surf and multiplies it by 2 to show max snow level, the "snow lines" for various thickness and surf freezing temp is overlayed. I
realize this is mixing different snow ideas, just thought I would throw it out there and see how it works.

The second overlays "snow lines" over ave. relh. Hope they end up working, anyone with suggestions/corrections, let me know.

I hope all previous scripts have been valid (add this one to the list), as always if there is a mistake somewhere let me know.
Also working on Snow Squall index, if Tim is checking or anyone else for that matter and can tell me if:

analyze,stor=5 grtn=60 relh h850 stor=4 grtn=60 relh hsfc

is valid and will exclude relh less than 60% for the press. levels.

IFF the ingredients for a snow squall are wind, moist, and instabiltiy...the script below fills for moist above 60% relh, wspd >9 m/s, and thte diff surf. to 850.

#snow squall ingred. thte fill blue, relh vert fill, windspeed horiz fill
erase
analyze,stor=2 thte h850 stor=1 thte hsfc

After getting hammered with snow the other snow scripts were a little low. Using PW w/snow lines was more accurate for my area in Central VA. Hope Y'all have a Merry Christmas!

The last post included fill for below zero surf. temp. It looked a little congested so replaced that fill with purple zero line.
