DigAtm Fusion 300mb Script w/Legend

Post by Weasel »

The legend doesn't match the map color gradient perfectly (as far as the eye's ability to discern, the red end is closer to 80:)), but it is very close. The script changes the color to a light gray at 100 and then white at 110.

Legend (use in place of a logo in Fusion):

Example chart (settings=smoothing coefficient of .35, two smoothing passes and barnes):

A less smoothed example (smoothing coefficient of .35, one smoothing pass and barnes) you'll notice that the light gray is now picked up just off the SW Oregon coast - and a more accurate depiction of winds is also now available over central MN into the Dakotas:

You can resize the legend if you want, I know it looks rather "stark" on an 800X600 map!

Here is the color gradient without text:

Nice work Pat :)

Would be nice if we could use different logos/legends for different maps. I suppose for now we could use transparent overlays for each script but it`s a pain.

Yeah, I brought that up on the Fusion part of the forum - under the logo bug post. Maybe that can be added in a future patch??

Hey Pat:

I've got to hand it to you for coming up with some great scripts! My only question is how to add the legend to the finished map. I'd also like to create a logo to add with a script for my charts. Any thoughts?

Again, great work my man!!!

Thank god Tim added a PNG module to Fusion. We certainly couldn`t have made such colourful maps on the old DAWS without creating huge bmp or fuzzy jpeg images!!

Hey Pat, while you`re on a roll with these scripts. How about a colorfill mslp/isobars script?

Randy, you add the legend/logo in preferences - annotations. At the moment, you can only use one logo for all maps. As Pat said in another thread, hopefully Tim can add the logo/legend command to scripting.

Bob, you could run something like this for North America on this particular day:

analyze,HILO CONT CINT=4 LINE=2 SLPR

I just entered some values (I didn't pay any attention to max and min stuff). Pressures as you know isn't static, so a color fill script that is won't always be representative...unless of course the values always neatly fit within a set range (relative humidity, excluding supersturation, that never goes above 100% is a good example of what I'm getting at)

Thanks Pat,

A few tweaks, as I prefer the standard 4mb increment. The azores high show up nicely below.....

I should spend more time on scripting!! I`m full of a cold at the moment :(

Randy,

Just create a transparent overlay and import it. You`ll need one for each analysis. For example here`s what I`m doing on my 500mb plots map. The analysis info is displayed along the top, then I just added my own logo along the bottom left.
