Fleetcode

Post by britbob »

Fleetcode is available every six hours. When are usually the best times to pull the Fleetcode data from hb-yacht.ch ?

I wanted to test some scripts making sure I get the correct times to run them without getting empty data.

Fleetcode download times

I download Fleetcode data at 2100 for the 1800 synoptic hour and rarely had a problem. So I guess if you wait a couple of hours after synoptic time you should be reasonably sure the data is available

Thanks Peter. You`re 4 hours ahead of me so I`ll make that 0100.

Peter, are you running any Fleetcode by scripts?

Fleetcode

Yes, in the UK they are on GMT of course so I download roughly a couple of hours after the synoptic hour, which is the GMT 6 hour intervals.
In fact at the moment I am offshore Tanzania (GMT +3hrs) but that's another story.

I run a 'retrieval' script for many data sets and included is fleetcode with the line shown below:

download,http://ftp.hb-yacht.ch/ASXX21.@D@S00,C:\Documents and Settings\.....etc etc

By setting the DA scheduler to run my 'retrieval' script 2-3 hours after synoptic hour i.e. 0300, 0900, 1500 & 2100 for 0000, 0600, 1200 & 1800 synoptic hours, fleetcode data is retrieved 99% of the downloads.

Yeah I have a few scripts running (for a few years now), just fancied adding fleetcode and european synop plots.

I have the "euro" scripts written up and the scheduler set - look forward to seeing my results over the next few days!

Gosh, just seen some of the plots. You have had some chilly weather over there lately. Sounds quite a bit different from the UK winters I can recall!
