Greetings:
I desperately need some assistance. I tried to work with PCGRIDDS from an old copy provided by Tim Vasquez. After much heartache, and serious questioning of my computer literacy, I finally got it to run, but was not able to get data. I heard about PCGRIDDS32 here, and was quite excited. I could not wait to try it. However my joy was short-lived. I cannot get it installed, because the Installation.exe file seem to be missing in my copy. I thought that maybe it would be in the executables downloads, but no such luck. Did I download incorrectly, or not a complete set of files? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cordially,
Carl Sidor
Installation difficulties
Mr. Sidor, Just download and extract the complete system zip file located at the address posted by Tim into your root directory, for most this would be c:\pcgridds32
Once extracted here just double click the pcg32.bat file, the programme should fire up without any troubles.
Figuring out just which files to downloadd is a bit tricky but the NWS ETA model files named fh.*_tl.press_gr.awp211, where *=forecast hour in 6 hour increments. These files are avialable through the links posted at the address Tim gave us under NWS. Remember you need to tell pcgridds32 to injest these files after download before they can be used by the programme.
I hope this helped.

instllation difficulties
Weasel:
Thank you so much for the help. I followed your instructions to the letter, and PCGRIDDS32 is up and running! I cannot believe how easy it was, after all the false starts and frustration I encountered trying it by myself. I should have come to the forum for advice first. Rest assured, that if I encounter further difficulties, I will be back. Thanks again for all the help. Now, off to try to ingest data!

Carl Sidor

installation difficulties
Apparently, my joy was premature. When I followed the procedure recommended, I got the main screen, and I thought I had succeded in installing PCGRIDDS32. Sadly, I find that such is not the case. I was too busy to actually try to use the program until today. The program will not start from the command prompt at all, and it insists that the QUERY.COM file cannot be found. Also, when I click on the file to open the program, the menu bar commands do not work (i.e. program, file, exit). This seems to me to not be a proper installation. When I installed PCGRIDDS, there was a command called SETUP I. After entering that, there was a whole string of file names that scrolled up on the screen, then I was placed at the Applications menu. Nothing like that happened this time. Even the P32>enter command does not work. Any ideas anyone?

installation difficulties
Does anyone know the recipe for humble pie? The difficulties I encountered were all the result of my ham-handed computer skills. All my problems arose from the erroneous installation. I created a folder labeled PCGRIDDS32, and unzipped the file into that. This caused the file commands to be input wrong apparently. When I got rid of the extra folder, the program began to run normally, and all functions seem to be there. Sorry for any negative impressions of PCGRIDDS32 that my lack of skill may have caused. It is a wonderful program from what I have seen so far. I'm looking forward to ingesting data with it soon
