It became a helicopter base in the 1990s, operated by 258 OVE flying Mi-24K/R, Mi-35, and Mi-8 helicopters. The helicopter regiment now appears to be gone, as Google high-res imagery showed no equipment based at the airfield, and the airfield is now in decay.
