Hi Jeff I just used the wrf_ems program from noaa's strc to create ARW grib1 and it work !!! I can now view the data with PCgridds32, so one can use gfs or nam as initial files and afterwards run ARW or NMM on ones pc. Afterwards you can use pcgridds/gempak/grads to view.

Obviosly one will get more ...

Hi does anybody has a script/program for converting grib2 to grib1? (plse no f90 programs)

I have been breaking my head on NCO's cnvgrib for a while but cant get it to work on windows. http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/codes/GRIB2/

Hi did anybody manage to view the HWRF files from NCEP hur directory , correctly ?

Seems like PCgridds32/wingridds does not recognize the layout of the grib.
The plan output does not look right when one displays the data.

Looks like the same problem pcgridds32 had/has when you try to decode NWW3 ...

oh ok my pcgridds32 version was old ..lol.
problem fixed..need to update.

Seems like pcgridds32 nor pcgrads can decode grib2 format. Ive notice that ncep has started to add grib2 format to their wafs products.
wafsgfs_L_intdsk24.grib2.

Tim are we gonna get a grib2 decoder? before ncep changes everything to grib2 format?

ps. Ive notice that the NAM(ETA) grib files has a tendency to
display the wind barbs rotated to fit the grib (polar not mercator)
the problem is that when you do a time section for a station, the barbs ...

maybe this will work, jeff...keep up the good work...

weird, ive tried the help cmd in pcgridds32 versions from dec 2004 up to latest version w/no problems.
