Hmm...Well, I know that DA did have satellite wind capability a few years back, and Tim seemed to think that the module may still be operational in Equinox. I've noticed that after manually importing other types of data, the status window does say "decoding satellite winds" during data processing ...

Satellite Derived Winds
Hi All,
I'm trying to test out DA's satellite wind capability over the Eastern Pacific, but when I attempted to add this link to my data retreival list:
ftp://www.orbit.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/smcd/opdb/goes/winds/g9hicdrft/cdnhlatest
the retreival module simply "got stuck" saying: "initializing ...

Question about a remark in a METAR report
Hi Everyone,
I've noticed the abbreviation "ACSL" followed by directions in the remarks section of a number of METAR reports, but I'm not sure what it means. Here's an example of how it appears:
KBAB 052355Z 17016KT 10SM FEW120 BKN250 28/03 A2982 RMK ACSL NE-E SLP099 ESTMD SLP 56010
Anyone here ...

Problem with Cressman Wind Analysis
Hi Tim and others,
I was experimenting around with the different analyis routines today, and ran into a problem with version 1.0f. I clicked File>Prefrences, hit the analysis tab, and changed the analysis routine to "Cressman." After analyzing SLP, temperature, humidity, and perhaps the altimeter ...

GRIB import error
Hi Tim,
I was on the Statistical Modelling Branch's page today, and decided to try importing a MOS GRIB file into DAWS. I got a GRIB file from the following website:
ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/DF.gr1/DC.mos/DS.metcns/RD.20040411/
and booted DAWS. I clicked "Import," found the file ...

10-5 thickness analysis problem in version 1.0e
Hi Everyone,
DAWS seems to have trouble doing a 1000-500 MB thickness analysis on a map with a small scale ratio. I was doing work this evening with a map zoomed in on northern CA/surrounding areas, and surface data was working fine. I then decided to plot 700 MB station plots with a 10-5 thickness ...

Hi Carl,
Here are a couple of websites where you can download either the TCL or TK language. It appears that Bufget is written in TK.
TK:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tcl/tk846-src.zip
TCL:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tcl/tcl846-src.zip
Hope that helps!
