Has anyone had success using PCGRIDDS32 on the NARR-A dataset?

Hi Lon,

I have used PCGRIDDS32 to display various data from the NARR-A data sets. Is there anything specific that you would like to discuss? Just let me know. I'd be glad to help.

Kevin,

Fundamental problem ... when I try to process the NARR grib file using NGRB2PCG, it produces nothing and shows unknown model type as it attempts to process through the various levels. Thanks for the response ...

Lon,

You will need to open the PCGRIDDS32 folder and then go to the GRIB folder and open the Gribmodl.dat file with a text editor and add the NARR model (140 NAR) to the list of models.

You may also need to edit the Grid.dat file in the same folder and add the 221 grid to it which is the grid that the NARR uses.

FYI: I have had no success with displaying cross sections using the full grid. However, I have been able to get cross sections to display correctly when using a subset of the grid which will be close to the 255 grid. The subregion I use is as follows:
Left lon: -135
Right lon: -60
Top Lat: 65
Bottom Lat 10

Lon, hope this will be of help to you.

Regards,

Kevin
