I believe many users of DAWS have come across the ominous "Range Check Error", for which an immediate explanation apparently cannot be found. It happened to me after running the same script for many months and then out of the blue was faced with this error message. After trying to run the script a few times, I even received an "I/O" error. Rebooting the PC did not solve the problem.
After searching in this forum I was faced with too many replies, for which I had neither the patience nor the time to read them all.
In the end I found out what caused the crash or better, the inability of DAWS to execute my script. In hindsight the solution was rather simple and obvious.
The script I was using stored the downloaded weather data in a my so called "test.dat" file in a seperate folder on my PC, which was then further processed with the "ingest" command. For whatever reason, the .dat file had become corrupted and running the script resulted in an attempt to overwrite the new "test.dat" file over the corrupted one.
After I deleted the file, the script ran normal.
Hopefully some user may benefit from my experience and avoid re-installing the whole program as the last resource.
