Hi guys,
Can anybody advise me as to if there's a way to shrink the station plots when using the NMC/NCEP raster (in the File/Font mode)?
I normally use DAWS default plots, but occasionally NMC/NCEP shows up precipitation types a little more clearly than does DAWS, the only problem being that the plots then look crowded.
I've had a look around but I can't find a way to change the font/plot size.
Has anyone any suggestions?
Looking forward to any replies.
Regards and respect,
Dave Exton.

Hi Dave,
You can't adjust this font through the styles panel:

The thread does say it can be adjusted for printouts by changing the map size. I've never printed any maps using this font, so I don't know how well it works.

NMC/NCEP Raster
Hi Pat,
Thanks as ever for your help!
I've just printed a map of The UK and NW Europe on A3 with the plot density at 83% (my usual optimum). The zoom level is 1550 x 1150. Although the map looks a little crowded (I don't really want to take the density down), it is usable, and it is a little easier to pick out precipitation and cloud symbols. If you're able to print a larger map, I can see how you'd get very good results.
I prefer the DAWS default (thanks TIM!), but I'll use the NMC/NCEP at birthdays, Christmas and public holidays!
Pat, again thanks for your help.

Hi Dave,
One thing you can change is the colour of the wind barb; the barb is based on the station plot setting in styles...I didn't know this myself until this morning when I switched between fonts.
This is basically a useless piece of information...but in case you run into a blue (or whatever) barb some time in the future using the NMC font...now you'll know why.
