Upper Air Data

Exactly the same problem here in the Uk. I've just downloaded some uper-air data from Albany into my RAOB software(Wed 21.30 UTC). That came out fine, plotted my skew-T a treat. This suggests nothing has changed (although clearly something has!).
I await, as do we all, a return to "normal service".

The problem definately appears to be the upper air data, I have just downloaded various other data packets seperately and they all work perfectly. As soon as you download Rawinsonde data the system locks up, I have also tried from different sources and the same lockup happens.
Running DAWS 1.1H registered - Win 98
Lets hope Tim can fix the problem

I went to the Albany site and manually downloaded the upper wind data then imported the file into DAWS and it works fine. Letting DAWS download the data seems to cause the problem, sooooo "Tim, Where are you?". Guess this solves my wind barb congestion problem

I believe I've isolated the problem to a block of data that begins with UKIR01. After removing this small portion, DAWS continues to ingest the data without incident. Why this is causing the problem, however, is something someone else will have to ascertain.

Thanks for the work around

Thanks to jclemons for the work around. I figured out that there was a problem right before going into class to have my students use the software for the first time. I only had them make surface maps. Now at least we have some way to create upper level maps until this problem is fixed.
One interesting thing happened. Upper level worked fine on Tuesday morning, did not work Tuesday afternoon, worked fine on Wednesday morning, has not worked since then. Wonder why it worked on Wednesday morning....
I hope there is a fix soon.

What I can't figure out is why Tim has been overlooking us by not being here when a problem arises. Now I know and fully realize he has allot on his plate being a father, other commitments, but where do WE fit in?
DAWS still hangs when downloading, so I'm using the workaround that
was posted here earlier. This is really annoying

Shanny:
I did not mean to sound rude or cocky in that earlier post, but was just like many of the guys I guess. Glad to see things are looking okay now!
Hope things are well with your new house!
