v1.0e: problems with "I/O Error"

I've been having a problem regarding the "import a file" feature under the File menu. Files usually import just fine, but there are exceptions. I may "import a file", plot the data, but wish to edit the original file after I import it. If I edit the file, I sometimes get an "I/O error 32" after re-importing that file. If I clear the data directory from the File menu, sometimes it will reload the data file without the I/O 32 error, other times it will not (particularly with convective outlooks). When I get the I/O error, I have to restart DAWS to begin importing files again.

At first, I thought this could be caused by Notepad being open, but it was closed (the file was not in use). I also discovered that if I import the same file again without editing, I still get I/O error 32. "Clear Data Directory" doesn't always clear the directory.
