Forum Unguarded

Post by Budgie »

Time has come for me to hang up my Moderator coat and retire.
I have been the only person keeping this forum spam-free for months now and Tim hasn't even visited the forum for the last two & half months.

As I don't actually use DA any more, preferring to create my maps using OpenGrads, I don't want to keep coming on here daily, just to keep the place clean from spammers when the site owner can't be bothered. So I'm sorry to those of you who use the forum for what it was intended because it will fill with spam. There seems to be open membership settings and I don't have the admin rights change it and make the forum more secure.

Sorry to leave you all in the lurch, but I hope this urges Tim take some responsibility and spend a bit of time on here.

Good luck and I hope DA continues.
Budgie.

Figured someone should at least reply!!

I don't blame you. I've been on here for over 20 years, and Tim used to frequent it quite a bit more in the early years. In fact it was popular with many folks, we were all sharing scripts and ideas back then. But then of course, bulletin boards/forums were the in thing before social media came along.

Tim isn't very active with support & purchase emails either, sometimes they take weeks and weeks for a response if there is one at all. It would certainly put me off purchasing a license.

I've also started exploring OpenGrads, at least the community is active and support messages get responded to very timely.

Thanks for keeping the forum tidy over the years :)
