European METAR plot bugs

Tim,

There are still some bugs with European METARs outstanding.

Firstly, the visibility will not plot from the METARs that are raw coded in metres.

i.e METAR EGBB 190650Z 00000KT 3800 BCFG BKN006 BKN007 05/04 Q1026

wil plot the visibility as ‘M’

Secondly, the UK military airfields use colour codes to indicate weather conditions i.e BLK, GRN, RED, YLO etc. These are include at the end of each METAR report.

Black - Airfield closed for non-Met reasons.
Red - Cloud under 200ft, and/or Visibility under 800m.
Amber - Better than Red, but cloud under 300ft, and/or Visibility under 1600m.
Yellow - Better than Amber, but cloud under 700ft, and/or Visibility under 3700m.
Green - Better than Yellow, but cloud under 1500ft, and/or Visibility under 5km
White - Better than Green, but Cloud under 2500ft, and/or Visibility under 8km
Blue - Cloud 2500ft or above and Visibility 8km or more

When the airfield is at GRN, DAWS thinks (from GR?) that there are Snow grains falling and plots that irrespective of any actual weather in the present weather field of the METAR (presumably that has a higher priority within the program)

Also, when a ‘TREND’ report such as ‘TEMPO’ is made at the end of the program, it takes the PO from TEMPO and thinks there is a dust devil going on and plots that.

While a lot of FG situations have the temp/dewpoint plotting resolved when there are RVRs, there are still some occasions such as below that will not plot the temp/pressure.

EGKK 190620Z 00000KT 0900 R26L/P1500 R08R/0325 FG FEW250 03/02 Q1026=

Plots the temp/dewpt as ‘M’

Hope this is of use.

Tim,

In addition, Sky Obscured seems to plot the temperature as the ceiling
i.e.
EGSS 312050Z 12008KT 0350 R23/0700 R05/0500 FG VV/// 06/06 Q1024

Plots Sky Obscured in red but adds a ceiling of 'C6' ( and if the temp is above 10 it plots sky obscured in blue with 'C10')
