Weasel.
I like the maps a lot. May I use the UK Colour2 on my site, and if so any chance of maps for Scotland and Eorope Central?
How did you create them?

Glad you liked it, Chris! Use it however you see fit. I sent you an email about the other maps.

I am looking for a map of europe similar to
http://www.carseweather.co.uk/jpeg/eurotemp.jpg .
I would appreciate any links anyone may have.

You can also download this planetary map which will give similar results for other areas of the globe:

Thanks Weasel,
The planetary map imports and works great. Would I be right in guessing that the larger versions are too big to handle easily?
I have yet to figure out how to use the europe map, is the dmf file used in some way, I can't find any reference to that in the help file?
Thanks again,
Michael

Mike,
The 16k maps will work well for map scales of about 1000nm, and a map size of 800X600 or so. They will import with 512mb of ram. So if you wanted to do a basemap for say Germany or Spain, this would be the way to go.
There will always be some distortion of map quality do to the transformation from a "flat" map to a "round" map...this is unavoidable, but if you are able to import them, the scales mentioned will look fairly good!
I should have mentioned what the dmf file was for, sorry about that! You figured it out anyway:) You can use the save map function with the planetary maps by first clicking copy marking onto basemap, then save basemap. This will save the displayed map as a bitmap w/ dmf file, and it will eliminate gobbling up of the huge amount of ram required for planetary imports each time:)

Michael,
I was wondering if you had any connection difficulties whilst downloading any of the maps? I'm assuming you are from Europe, and a couple of people from over your way have mentioned this problem to me.
Thanks!

Hi Pat,
Thanks for all the extra info.
I did in fact download quite a few maps without any problems.
I got some errors on the 128MB file but was able to resume ok.
Thanks again,
Michael
