For those of us that use the weather archives you produce and for others seeking more detailed "parameter change" data as weather systems develop I am requesting a way to directly analyze grid files, i.e. the "grid.txt" output from the objective analysis algorithm.
This would enable those of us wanting hourly pressure change, temp or dew point change or those of us using the weather archives that do not have 3 hourly PTEN values to
1. Load a metar file
2. Send grid.txt to MS Excel
3. Load a second metar file
4. Send a second grid.txt file to Excel
5. Calculate a difference grid.txt file
6. Using the new option in DA load the diffrence file and produce a chart showing contours of change.
Ultimately it would be nice to calculate differences for all parameters directly from two raw metar files, then plotting station values before doing an isopleth analysis.
But the idea outlined above should be quite easy without a huge amount of data and file manipulation and additional coding.
If there is already a way for DA to bypass raw data and directly read a grid.txt file I would love to know about it.
