Islands missing on base maps

If you plot a map of the UK area, the island of Anglesey is mising. It's just off the north-west coast of Wales and is the largest island in the UK at 261 square miles. I'm also reliably informed that the Scottish islands of Skye, the Uists and Barra are also missing.
Are these missing from the data used to compile the base maps (which means it might be difficult to fix) or has something gone wrong during the translation of the data into the base maps (which might mean it's easier to fix)?

Hi Chris,
I can't give you a technical answer to the question, but I can tell you that the islands have been missing for some time. They never plotted on the previous version of DA either.
A bit dissapointing, but something I've just learned to live with.
It would be nice if the problem were fixable.

Thats not only for your region but also the islands of the Netherlands are missing. Thats not one or two but 7 islands missing.
Would be nice if they will be availible in future updates.

Hi Guys,
I'm sure I'm telling you you something you already know, but If you have a look for "UK Base map" in the DA forum, you'll see Weasel's own excellant maps of the UK and Europe. Pat's put together some fantastic maps with nothing missing and a lot of extras i.e. mountain relief, and rather nice colours.
If you're looking for detail I'd recommend a look there.
HTH's,
Regards,
Dave Exton.

I think Tim used CIA map data for the DA WS mapping engine. Unfortunately this data didn't include many of the smaller islands...Isle of Wight etc..Onw way to include these on a map is to import a shapefile for the UK, or the Netherlands and save it as a basemap so you don't have to import it all the time. The boundaries will draw in blue, but at least the islands will be there.
Link to the free shapefile data:

Just draw a rectangle around a small area on the map and click next to download. The area selected shouldn't be much larger than the UK, however, as you can only download a little at a time. Map resolution will be about the same as what DA WS uses.
Link to several European maps at 835x600:

(you may find the British Isles map useful, Dave.)

I tried the ESRI shapefile and unless I did something wrong the resolution is a fair bit lower than the base DAWS maps.

Will be about the same doesn't mean it is the same....:)
A better resolution UK shapefile:

Example of the island you were wondering about earlier using the shapefile linked above and DA WS:

This shapefile includes borders for Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, otherwise it is the same as the other one for the UK.
