A new version of Digital Atmosphere is available! My free time has finally allowed me to begin work on this new version.

All users who registered after January 1, 2004 get grandfathered to this version free of charge when it is completed.

Note that this is an ALPHA version. The alpha version of a product still awaits full debugging or full implementation of all its functionality, but satisfies a majority of the software requirements. It often lacks features promised in the final release, but demonstrates the feasibility and basic structure of the software.

NEW FEATURES IN THIS VERSION

Some of the available features are as follows:

* Revised GUI interface.

* Support for thousands of CWOP (MADIS) U.S. mesonet stations (sources are available in the Internet > Retrieval panel)

* Minor memory leak, often found during scripting, is fixed.

* Support for multiple workcharts has been re-established (use File > New Workchart to open, and the X at the top right of a workchart to close).

* Slaving of cursor between multiple workcharts (good for examining radar products). You can activate this by right-clicking on a workchart and choosing the desired "slaving" option, or go to File > Preferences > Maps and turn on slaving. It is off by default.

* Auto-update of charts (File > Update All Workcharts). This only updates U.S. radar products! This will be worked on to include auto-download of regular observations (for plots and contours it will just replot them).

* Numerous other changes; many of which I can't remember or have been written down elsewhere.

INSTALLATION

The full install may be found here:
http://www.weathergraphics.com/dl/daws-fusion-06a.exe (16.8 MB)

Requires: Windows 2000 or XP. May work with Win 98 but has not been tested.

IMPORTANT NOTES

* This will install with its own registry location and default directory, and should not bother any pre-existing copies on your system. Nevertheless I do advise backing them up if possible.

* Professional users may use their raster maps by direct-copying the files in your Professional version: any files from /tpc, /onc, /gnc, /jnc, and /gnc. These come from your Program Files/DigitalAtmosphereWS directory and go into your Program Files/DigAtmFusion directory.
