Is there anyway to prevent DAWS from locking up when a radar station is down? I was trying to import three files from Atlantic Canada, when after the second url was imported it locked up. I thought maybe it was a bug in the new DAWS version so I tried my older version but it`s the same.

I checked at the EC website and the station was indeed down. We shouldn`t have to crtl/alt/dlt whenever the program hits a dead source? Otherwise the program just sits there with the windoze egg timer spinning around!!

Is there anyway to code in a fail safe. If the source fails to respond after a few seconds, it skips and carries on?

Just do another run with a different set of radars, or just one site you know works. In other words, do another import without the offending (down) site. And wala ... things are working normally again!

What I`m trying to say, if I`m importing say for example three stations. The first one is working, but the second is down then it crashes DAWS and I`m left to crtl/alt/dlt.

So basically, I will have to check out the Environment Canada website first to make sure the radar stations are up before importing anything into DAWS.

Hmmm, you see, it doesn't crash here - though it does LOOK like it is locking up (the transfer window is there and won't go away, even with clicking on close).

However, if you simply do the task again, it WILL run again (and stop again). Just notice which station causes it, uncheck THAT one, and rerun, and it will work just fine ... with no having to close program or anything. Usually, the "stopper" is temporary, just as the rare error on US radars goes away within 5 minutes based on another data feed from the offending station.
