New version released - Fusion 0.6e

I heard secondhand that the alpha version expired, and lo and behind it is true. So let me say always E-mail me directly if you have an urgent issue. I did not get ONE E-mail about the last alpha version expiring. There have not been significant changes in this version due to problems with my free time (I expect this will change for the better starting this weekend, as my wife and I have reached a huge agreement regarding our domestic time management; I program this at the house). I will definitely be addressing all the bugs pointed out in this forum.

Here is an updated version:
http://www.weathergraphics.com/dl/daws- ... -patch.exe
This REQUIRES the first Fusion (alpha) patch mentioned in a post from a month or two ago -- please search for that thread. If you already have 0.6a/0.6b/0.6c/0.6d there's nothing else you need.

IMPROVEMENTS ARE:
- Resets expiration.
- Adds a "rotation" factor in the Map > Generate to better match up satellite underlays (negative values and decimal fractions are allowed). This value, if nonzero, will cause the map to rotate around the center of the workchart by the specified degree angle.
- Adds Map > "Import Map from URL" so you can import a satellite image from the Internet. The status window won't (yet) tell you it's downloading so just be patient and the map will appear.

Here are some samples of composites using the College of DuPage satellite site:
http://www.weathergraphics.com/da/dasat.png
http://www.weathergraphics.com/da/darad.png

Here are some suggested settings that work perfectly with the above satellite sectors (southern U.S.):

Code: Select all

AREA LAT LONG ZOOM MAPSIZE ROTA URL
panhandles 35.608 -100.990 498 800x600 2.4 http://weather.cod.edu/satellite/1km/Panhandle.gif
new mexico 34.100 -106.000 498 800x600 4.5 http://weather.cod.edu/satellite/1km/New_Mexico.gif
colorado 38.900 -105.700 490 800x600 4.5 http://weather.cod.edu/satellite/1km/Colorado.gif
Also I don't know if this was in earlier versions but the multiple workcharts are now supported again (not fully tested) with cursor slaving... here is a screenshot:

Another sample screenshot from the latest version, showing inclusion of MADIS mesonet data (annotations are hand-drawn):

Tim,
I've just installed the latest patch and my version has now REVERTED from "registered" to the 30 day evaluation mode. It's also showing as Version "c" rather "d".

1) The indicated version name: This has been fixed:
http://www.weathergraphics.com/dl/daws- ... -patch.exe

2) The registration did revert so that all expirations could be reset for everyone, so that everyone gets to try this patch for 30 days. It is normal for the alpha versions to be running in trial version since I will have to reset the expirations with each release.

Great work! I didn't know you were planning to include the 4-panel display in this version. This is kind of a cool feature with radar imagery, as shown in the sample.

Anyway, the new patch installed fine for me; DigAtm Fusion v0.6e, and 30 evaluation mode is showing up top.

Tim, it installed fine. That satellite support is fantastic!

Wondering - what does Build 3-D Atmosphere do?

Anyway, on the Dupage site, is there a way to somehow calculate what lat/lon the image is? I don't think I could narrow it down in DAWS to those fine locations, and I can't think of a way to get, say, NJ onto there. Thanks

Thanks :)

Thanks Tim,

The software is looking great! Can't wait till we can get the fully registered version. I'll post if I notice any irregularities or bugs, thanks again for all the hard work, it really is appreciated.

Here are a couple more map coordinates that work reasonably well (both use the Orthographic setting):

Lat: 31.05 x Lon: -97.085 x Scale: 850 x Image H x W: 672 x 672 ROTA: nil

Uses this satellite URL: http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/da ... US_vis.jpg and you can also use this with IR and WV imagery by changing the _AUS_vis.jpg to _AUS_ir.jpg or _AUS_wv.jpg

Lat: 31.3 x Lon: -97.15 x Scale: 500 x Image H x W: 800 x 600 ROTA: nil

Use this satellite URL: http://weather.cod.edu/satellite/1km/E_Texas.gif
===

Enjoy!

Any new updates on this status? Havent seen any post lately on the problems posted in the forum yet. Just checking to see if there is any progress. Thanks!
