It was operating only MiG-21 aircraft in the 1970s. By the 1990s the 31 Gv IAP was operating here with MiG-29 and MiG-23UM, and returned to Russia in June 1993. Falkenberg is decaying and the runway has been reduced to a 1200 x 30 subset of the original 3000 m runway.
