Is there any change in the furture to have also at least Polar Stereographic and Mercator projections in DAWS, and maybe a Mollweide and/or Mercator 360° world view centered on 0°E/0°N and 180°W/0°N. This makes it possible to compare output, or even use output from e.g. GrADS in DAWS, and makes DAWS output also more flexible to other programs!
And, it would GREATLY aid it matching various satellite pics using other projections.
But I'm guessing with the new mapping engine, it would be a huge task.
May not be as hard as you think. The planetary maps use a mercator projection, and DA WS deals with them fine them fine. The raster maps in the pro version don't use orthographic either, although I forget what is used now.
Mapping transformations are actually quite easy and I'll be adding them soon. However with all the other work going on in DA I didn't want to muck around too much with the mapping engine yet.
I was going to ask about that. I still have the "Digital Chart of the World" I bought off you a few years back, and would love to be able to use maps from that in different projections.
A small kind reminder as this topic wasn't included in the latest patch. Please add also Mercator and Polar Stereographic projections into the next patch. The greatest benefit would be the exchange of maps with programs who don't support orthographic as GrADS.
