Yes, I am satisfied. Perhaps it's a good idea that Tim put these 3 files on his site, so that everyone can use them.
BTW, I have 512 Mb RAM and I can generate maps with the 19k file. It takes some time but the results are great.

Planetary Maps - 16 and 8k
Amazing the map imported at all....I don't think you would be able to open it in a graphics programme. Anyway, glad it imported for you!
As far as Tim having any of them on his site, he doesn't....least as far as I know. He did say something about posting a link or something to my maps in the mapping Support and Faqs section on the weathergraphics homepage. I basically just emailed him to let him know I was offering them for DA WS users, and he posted a link to them....the maps that are on there will be available for those who want them, don't worry:)

Yes, it was also possible to open it in Paint Shop Pro. It only took "some time". It was even possible to select parts of the image. It was not possible to do actions like "sharpen".
During all these manipulations in PSP and making new maps in DAWS the program for receiving MSG-1 was running too. You see, it's not that bad.

My system is (unfortunately) really 512 Mb. and 2,67G.
The hicolor-bump is 557 Mb. This is the file I can import in PSP.
Generating a map:
I made a map of Europe with the size of 2560x1920. This is the maximum size for my MSG-1 images. I imported the planetary map which took 7 1/2 minute.
Saving this file resulted in a map of 19Mb.
So it only take some time.

The 19K..
Since some wondered just what this looks like here is the link:
http://www.wistorms.net/planetaryZips/hicolor_bump.zip ...the download is about 130 mbs, and once extracted will, hopefully, import with 512 mbs of ram as it is left uncompressed.
Examples which compare the 16k and 19K:
http://www.wistorms.net/examples/16K.bmp
http://www.wistorms.net/examples/19K.bmp
The 19K will improve the clarity of mountain ranges at closer zooms.
