Next update for DAWS
I think Tim said he would start doing some DA WS programming again this month. Probably just a matter of a few weeks or so before the next update is released...I hope all can keep from bursting a blood vessel before the next release :)
Randy, I was wondering what types of charts you are looking to create for your site?

Re: Stuff!
Hi Jon, Pat:
Perhaps I did get "too" winded, and I apologize for that shortcoming. It's just getting real annoying when you have people on your back looking for products I can't yet produce because Tim has not yet released support for them. Oh I don't fault Tim and I do realize he has to make money as we all do, but if books sell better then DAWS, he should consider selling the program to someone who will keep it updated and focus on writing books.
Just a thought here.
Pat, the charts I need are for Aviation and severe weather forecasting. I need surface depiction charts and freezing level charts to show icing potential. For severe weather, I need contours showing CAPE, LI, Helicity, Supercell Potential, Significant tornado parameter, and so on. Many of the severe parameters. Currently, DAWS does not support these.
Randy
P.S. I've really came down with the flu, so I may not post for a few days. I
will get back to yous if necessary.

Gempak is a fine piece of work, but as you say it requires some patience!! Hopefully Tim can expand on DAWS and it`s grib support which make this an even better piece of software.
Think Gempak is tough to learn, try installing GRADS on a server and learning the art of scripting!! Four months later and I`m still finding it mind blowing

My thoughts exactly regarding discussing this in another section of the forum :) At least the thread kind of started as a DA WS question.
Since this was brought up, WINGRIDDS sounds like it will be rather interesting. Krob even mentioned adding support for surface data and the like....can't wait until it is released!

GEMPAK & Linux
I would just learn GEMPAK (which is FREE) but i have no idea how to use LINUX and set up GEMPAK (it is a steep learning curve). I think I need to take a course on Linux at a local college![/quote]
I've got a publically available Linux Server here that I run preety much for weather stuff only, it has McIDAS Lite on it and I'm working on GEMPAK. If you're interested I'll try to move it along quicker here and possibly some way to get you remote access via X-Windows and the Internet. I'm in Jackson WI so not too far away.
