NEXRAD Precipitation Total GIS Analysis Question

Post by Cliff »

Folks,

I'm trying to plot a 24-hour rainfall total with .shp files from

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/rfcshare/precip_download.php

into DAWS. I can get an overlay, but not color coded. Any suggestions on how to load a color table to make it readable? Or is this not possible...

Regards, Cliff

Shapefile overlays in DA WS only plot in blue at the moment. I don't know that DA WS has ever been able to handle a color file that describes what colors a shapefile should be plotted in?? That is a good question nevertheless!.

The NEXRAD file is also probably a point file - I've only tried using lines and areas...how points behave is unknown to me in DA WS.

It's probably a good idea to ask Tim Vasquez about this. If this isn't currently available he can probably include it in a future version of the program.

I gues point files import as a pinkish color...I just downloaded the shapefile you linked to (lines and areas only plot in blue).

As solid pinkish isn't of much use, I'd ask Tim if he can include a way to decode the color (probably a dbf file) file in a future release.
