planetary maps
Where may I find planetary maps for closer views? I want to create a regional map for my area.

What are you doing on here 
Have a look around the Blue Marble website(s). You`ll need the much larger images for regional maps. Bear in mind, the more regional your maps become the more grainy/distorted the planetary background will become. Bigger planetary map is better for regional basemaps.
I think you have to email them for the bigger images.
