Explanation about Equinox

Post by Tim Vasquez »

I've had a few questions about what Equinox is. This is the newest generation of Digital Atmosphere.

Historically the progression has been like this:
1996 Digital Atmosphere
2000 Digital Atmosphere 2000
2004 Digital Atmosphere Workstation
2006 Digital Atmosphere Fusion (remained in beta)
2007 Digital Atmosphere Equinox

Generally when there's been a new growth of work or significant changes I will replace the version name in this manner. Beyond that it doesn't mean a whole lot.

Fusion, Workstation, and 2000 are all retired now.

(con)version problems

Post by Fred »

I hope this was the last time a complete new version was introduced. Every time we must face a lot of conversion problems. A selection.

Scripts
A lot of scripts must be changed, e.g. the place where the maps are stored. Now the most direct way to reach your scripts is place them in a separate folder in the DAWS-folder.
Solution.
A default parameter in the program where the maps and scripts are stored. An advantage is here that you can put the scripts on a place that is regularly part of a backup, like e.g. “My documents”.

Menu
If you change the menu you must copy the menu from the old version to the new. Then you must check if there are new menu-items in the new version.
Solution
Make an option in the program to add user-specific menu-options and combine them into one menu. See Scripts for the default parameter.

Data retrieval
The same story and solution as under menu.

Preferences
You must check all one by one and change if necessary.
Solution
Provide an automatic option to import the old values.

Greetings
