I installed the 1.0l and 1.0m patches during the past few days. (As others have reported, my registered copy of DAWS was changed to 60-day evaluation mode.)
If no map window is open, the Load Base Map feature does not work. When I try to load one of my maps, I get the error message "No available workchart." However, if I first generate a base map--any base map--then the Load Base Map feature works.
If I try to erase the contents of a map, the map is not erased. Instead, the base map I generated to get the Load Base Map feature to work is overlaid on top of the current one. The only way to "erase" a map is to load a new one.
Has anyone else experienced this?
It seems to me that similar problems have been discussed in connection with earlier releases, but I have been unable to locate the thread(s). My apologies if this is a duplicate question.

Don

Map loading/erasing problem in v 1.0m
I've noticed this problem and mentioned it previously. It is more an annoyance than a real problem. I have v 1.0m installed on a Compaq Presario 900 series, running Windows XP. When I load a new base map, say, to look a radar data after checking weather data, the erase function does not merely erase the map, it reloads the original map. Wally said that this is probably due to DAWS using the blank original map instead of actually "erasing" the map. When all the more important issues have been addressed, pehaps this could be changed. It is not terribly serious in my opinion, though.

Flakey map generator
Yes, Tim there are some flakey problems with the map generator which has been with us for the last few betas. I too have experienced the problems above.
It is difficult to pin down the exact problem(s). I have sucessfully generated, saved, and loaded every size of map, both in the "map Coordinate" and "Quick Pick". But this is not enough. Because the second or third time may produce a crash of the program (illegal operation). I tried to replicate a map today that I have on DA and it crashed on DAWS. That map has the following config: lat 39 lng -97 scale 3000 size 1100x 718.
While most of our efforts have been directed toward the metrological bugs, and rightly so, we do need a reliable map generator. I think I remember some bugs like this in the early DA.
Good maps, good meteorology,
Roy

If you generate a base map (and I use something like 55.73 / 4.95 / 3250 for making it fit to satellite images) and go back to generate map, sometimes (but not always) lat/long are rounded 56 / 5, while scale is changed into 3249.497, next time 3249.494 etc.
Also the name of the style changes.
Importing map (for importing a satellite image) does not work.
Greetings
Fred
